What You Need to Sign Up on Stripe as an Individual
When you create your Stripe account, you’ll need to provide your personal information, including your full name, date of birth, home address, and contact details.
Stripe will then ask for a government-issued photo ID like a passport, driver’s license, or national ID card. Make sure the document is clear, in color, and not a screenshot or edited image.
In some cases, Stripe may also ask for a proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement that shows your name and address. The document should usually be issued within the last six months.
If you’re using Stripe for your freelance or small business work or just family trips, you’ll also need to enter a short description of your services and a link to your website or social media profile. Don’t worry if you don’t have a website yet — you can update it later from your Stripe Dashboard.
Note:
In the description, avoid mentioning family trips or personal use. Instead, refer to it as a Trip Organizer to beautiful international destinations or similar professional wording.
If you don’t have your own website, you can temporarily provide your social media link during sign-up. Once your trip is published, you can update your business URL with your Trip URL link through your Stripe Dashboard.
How to Update Your Personal Information or Documents on Stripe
You can easily edit or update your information any time after signing up. Here’s how:
Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
Go to Settings.
Under Business settings, open sections like Account details or Public business information.
Make the changes you need — for example, update your name, address, or website URL.
Click Save to confirm.
It’s a good idea to keep your Stripe profile up to date so your account remains verified and active.
What to Do if Stripe Flags a Verification Issue
Sometimes Stripe might send you a notification asking for updated information or additional documents. If this happens, don’t worry — it’s common and can be fixed quickly.
Log in to your Stripe Dashboard and check for any alerts under the “Action required” section or a banner at the top of the page or any notification. Follow the prompts to upload the required information or documents. You can also go to Business settings, where any incomplete details will be highlighted in red.
If your account is in Restricted or Restricted soon status we will also send emails to you.
If you’re unsure what needs to be done or can’t find the alert, reach out to Stripe Support and ask to speak with a human agent. They can review your account and guide you through the verification process.
Keep Your Stripe Account Verified and Updated
