Fixing “Pay in Installments” Not Showing in Payment Plans

Pay in Installment not showing

Overview

If an organizer reports that the “Pay in Installments” option is missing in their package’s payment settings, it’s usually caused by one of two issues:

  1. The package price is below the minimum required threshold.

  2. The package is priced By room and its room prices are missing or too low.

This guide explains both causes and how to fix them. If your trip was created on an older version of SquadTrip, some screens may look different.

Possible Causes and Solutions

1. Package Price Below $100 Minimum

To enable the Pay in Installments option, the package price must be more than $99 (a package priced at exactly $99 stays pay-in-full).

If the price is set below this amount, the system will only display the Pay in Full option.

How to Fix:

  1. Open the trip, click Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings and go to Packages; open the package (⋮ → Edit).

  2. Check the price under Package Basics.

  3. Check the total amount.

Package form showing Package Basics with the Package name, One price per person chosen and the Package cost per person field

  4. If it’s below $100, increase it to $100 or higher.

  5. Click Save Changes.

  6. Go to Payments → Payment Plans → Edit Payment Plans and pick the package; Pay in Full + Installments is now available.

Payment plan editor on the Payment Type section with Pay in Full and Pay in Installments both ticked

  7. Choose Pay in Full + Installments and set the deposit and dates.

  8. Click Save again, the installment option will now be available to travelers.

2. Rooms and Package Not Mapped Properly

If your package is priced By room, it has no price of its own. The Payments step takes it from the rooms priced in the package: the way to book a room with the fewest people (the lowest price, if several), at its full room price, which is the price per person times the people it sleeps. Pay in Installments appears only when that price is more than $99, so it won’t appear if no room has a price in the package. For example, with “Private room, just you” at $1,250, the package counts as $1,250 and installments are offered; with only “2 to a room” at $45 per person, it counts as $90 and they are not.

How to Check & Fix:

  1. Open the trip, click Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings and go to Rooms.

  2. Click Edit on a room you sell in this package.

  3. Scroll to How it sells: each way to sell the room has an Occupancy and a Price per person box for each package priced by room.

How it sells in the room editor for the Garden Room: Way 1 with 2 people per room, a price per person for Standard and Premium, and Sold as Shared

  4. Check the box under your package’s name: Blank = not sold in that package. Type a price if it’s empty, or click Open grid on the Rooms step and use + Add price in your package’s column.

  5. Make sure the Price per person is set properly: for the way with the fewest people, the price per person times the Occupancy must be more than $99.

  6. Click Save changes.

  7. Revisit Payments → Payment Plans → Edit Payment Plans; Pay in Full + Installments should now be available.

  8. Choose Pay in Full + Installments and set the deposit and dates.

  9. Click Save again, the installment option will now be available to travelers.

Verification Checklist

After making changes, confirm that:

  • Installment payment option appears in the Payment Plans section of the Payments step (not under Payment Settings, which holds auto-charge and retry).

Payments & Settings page: Payment Options and Payment Settings (collapsed by default), with the Payment Plans table per package in its own section below them

  • Each room you sell in the package has a Price per person in that package.

Packages × rooms price grid with Standard and Premium columns, a price per person in each cell and + Add price where a room is not sold in a package

  • The package total meets or exceeds the minimum required value.

Additional Notes

  • Always verify both pricing and room prices when troubleshooting payment visibility.

  • If multiple admins manage pricing, ensure changes are coordinated to avoid overwriting correct configurations.

A package priced By room has no price of its own: its prices come from its rooms, so check the room prices, not the package.
