Overview
Group Chat polls let you gather opinions and make group decisions right inside your trip chat. Whether you're voting on restaurants, activities, or travel dates, polls make it easy to see what the group wants.
Creating a Poll (Organizers Only)
Trip organizers can create polls in the group chat:
Open the Group Chat for your trip
Click the poll icon (bar chart icon) in the message input area
Enter your poll question (e.g., "Which restaurant should we go to on Day 2?")
Add your answer options — you can add multiple choices
Choose a voting type:
Single Choice — Each person picks one option
Multiple Choice — Each person can select multiple options
Ranked Choice — Each person ranks options in order of preference
Click "Create Poll" to post it in the chat
The poll appears as a special message in the chat that everyone can interact with.
Voting on a Poll
When a poll is posted in the chat:
Read the question and options
Click your choice(s) depending on the voting type:
Single Choice: Click one option
Multiple Choice: Click all options you like
Ranked Choice: Drag or select options in your preferred order (1st choice, 2nd choice, etc.)
Your vote is recorded and results update in real time
Voting Types Explained
Single Choice
Best for: Making a final decision between options
Each person picks one option
The option with the most votes wins
Simple majority decides
Multiple Choice
Best for: Gauging interest across several options
Each person can select as many options as they like
Shows which options have the broadest appeal
Great for "select all that apply" questions
Ranked Choice
Best for: Finding the group's true preference when there are many options
Each person ranks options from most to least preferred
Uses a scoring system — higher-ranked options get more points
The option with the highest total score wins
Avoids the problem of vote splitting between similar options
Viewing Results
Results update in real time as people vote
You can see how many votes each option has received
Ranked choice polls show the cumulative score for each option
Closing a Poll
Organizers can close a poll when voting is done:
Find the poll in the chat
Click "Close Poll"
The poll locks — no more votes can be cast
Final results remain visible to everyone
Note: Only organizers can close or delete polls.
Tips for Better Polls
Keep options clear and concise — avoid overlapping choices
Use Single Choice when you need a definitive decision
Use Multiple Choice to narrow down a long list
Use Ranked Choice when the group has strong but varied preferences
Set a deadline in your poll question (e.g., "Vote by Friday!") so people know when to respond
Polls are great for: restaurant picks, activity preferences, meeting times, room assignments, and more
