Overview
Group Chat polls let organizers gather opinions and make group decisions directly inside the trip chat. Travelers vote in real time, and results update instantly. Polls support single choice, multiple choice, and ranked choice voting.
Getting to Polls
Open the Group Chat for your trip
Click the poll icon (bar chart) in the message input area
The poll creation form appears
Only organizers can create polls -- the poll icon is not shown to travelers. Travelers vote on the polls organizers post. Organizers can close or delete any poll.
Create a Poll
Click the poll icon in the message input area
Enter your poll question (e.g., "Which restaurant should we go to on Day 2?")
Add your answer options (at least two)
Choose a voting type: Single Choice, Multiple Choice, or Ranked Choice (for Ranked Choice, pick how many options voters rank: Top 3, 4 or 5)
Optionally add a description, a deadline (the poll closes itself when it passes, unless the leading options are tied -- then it stays open until an organizer picks the winner), anonymous voting, or -- for organizers -- pin the poll to the top
Click "Create Poll" to post it in the chat
The poll appears in the polls strip above the messages, where everyone in the chat can vote on it.
Vote on a Poll
When a poll appears in the chat, click your choice(s):

Results update in real time as people vote. You can see vote counts for each option immediately -- except on a Ranked Choice poll, where you see the results only after you have submitted your own ranking (or the poll closes).
Close a Poll
When voting is done:
Find the poll in the chat
Click "Close Poll"
The poll locks -- no more votes can be cast
Final results remain visible to everyone
Organizers can close or delete any poll. If the vote is tied, you'll be asked to pick the winner before it closes. Polls with a deadline close on their own when it passes -- unless the vote is tied, in which case the poll stays open until an organizer picks the winner.

Use the optional Deadline field so the poll closes itself, and mention the date in your question (e.g., "Vote by Friday!") so people know when to respond
Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |
Can't find the poll icon | The poll icon (bar chart) sits next to the emoji button in the message input area and is shown to organizers only. If you are the organizer and don't see it, refresh the page. |
Poll not appearing after creation | Refresh the chat. If the poll still doesn't show, check your internet connection and try again. |
Can't vote on a poll | The poll may have been closed -- by its creator, an organizer, or its deadline. Closed polls show final results but don't accept new votes. |
Want to change my vote | On a Single or Multiple Choice poll, select a different option (and Submit Votes for Multiple Choice); your previous vote is replaced. A Ranked Choice ranking cannot be changed once submitted. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can travelers create polls, or only organizers? A: Only organizers. The poll icon is not shown to travelers, who vote on the polls organizers post. Any organizer can close or delete a poll.
Q: Can I change my vote after submitting it? A: On Single and Multiple Choice polls, yes -- select a different option and your previous vote is replaced. A Ranked Choice ranking cannot be changed once submitted.
Q: How does ranked choice voting work? A: Each voter drags their top choices into order (the poll creator sets whether that is the top 3, 4 or 5). The system assigns points based on ranking -- a 1st-place vote gets the most points (3 in a Top-3 poll), 2nd place fewer, and so on. The option with the highest total score across all voters wins.
Q: Are poll results visible to everyone or just the organizer? A: Poll results are visible to everyone in the Group Chat in real time. Both organizers and travelers can see how many votes each option has received as voting happens.
