How to Set Up a Multi-Destination Trip

Overview

A SquadTrip trip has one destination: one location, one set of dates and one itinerary. To give travelers a choice of destinations -- say Bali, Cancun or Costa Rica -- you have two options: create one trip per destination (Duplicate Trip makes this quick), or, when the dates and itinerary are the same, offer the destinations as separate packages within one trip. This article covers both.

Getting to Multi-Destination Setup

There is no "Add Destination" button. Separate trips: from your Dashboard open the trip, click Trip Actions → Duplicate Trip, then edit the copy's location, dates, packages and itinerary. Packages in one trip: open the trip, click Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings → Packages and add one package per destination option (for example "Bali -- standard room").

How Destination Groups Work

Pick the approach that matches what has to differ between destinations:

What you need

Separate trips

Packages in one trip

Location

One per trip -- each destination gets its own map pin

One for the whole trip

Dates

Can differ per trip

Shared by every package

Itinerary

Unique per trip

One itinerary for all packages

Packages & pricing

Independent per trip

Each package has its own price, deposit and payment plan

Capacity

Package quantities plus a trip-level Mark as sold out

A Quantity on each package

With packages, travelers see every option under Package options on the trip page and pick one at checkout. With separate trips, each trip has its own page and checkout, and your public homepage (your-travel-group.squadtrip.com) lists them all under Active Trips.

Setting Up Packages Per Destination

Within one trip every package has its own name, price, quantity and payment plan (Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings → Packages; deposits and installments under Payments → Edit Payment Plans). A "Bali standard room" package at $875 and a "Cancun suite" package at $2,450 can sit side by side -- but they share the trip's dates and itinerary. If those differ, use separate trips.

What Travelers See at Checkout

On the trip page, travelers see the Package options with each package's starting price. At checkout, they:

  1. Choose the package for the destination they want

  2. Pick a spot or occupancy if it is a room-based package

  3. Complete payment using that package's price and payment plan

With separate trips, each trip has its own page and checkout; share your public homepage link (your-travel-group.squadtrip.com) so travelers can compare them.

Managing Capacity Per Destination

Set a Quantity on each package (Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings → Packages). When a package sells out it shows as "SOLD OUT" (or "Join the waitlist" when the waitlist is on) while the other packages stay bookable. You can also tick Mark as sold out on a package, or on the whole trip in Trip Basics.

Important Notes

  • Each package (or each trip) has its own pricing -- changing one does not affect the others

  • Travelers pick their package at checkout and cannot switch afterwards on their own -- you change it for them with Edit Order

  • Capacity is set per package (Quantity); a whole trip can also be marked sold out

  • The trip page shows all packages with their starting prices; your public homepage shows all active trips

Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

A destination option is missing from the trip page

Check the package was saved under Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings → Packages and is not marked sold out. For separate trips, check the trip is published.

Pricing confusion across destinations

Each package has its own price and payment plan. Review them one by one under Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings → Packages and Payments.

Traveler wants to switch destinations after booking

Open the trip, go to the Travelers tab, click the traveler's row → View Details, then Edit Order in the left-hand menu. Pick another package of the same type on this trip, or use 1. Switch to different trip. Payments already made carry over: a lower price becomes a credit balance, a higher price a remaining balance.

Capacity limits not working

Check the Quantity on the right package under Trip Actions → Edit Trip Settings → Packages -- "Unlimited" means no cap. Each package has its own quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can travelers switch destinations after booking? A: Not on their own. As the organizer, open the traveler from the Travelers tab (View Details → Edit Order in the left-hand menu) and pick another package -- or, if the destination is a separate trip, use 1. Switch to different trip. Their existing payments carry over; a lower price becomes a credit balance and a higher price shows as a remaining balance.

Q: Can I set different dates for each destination? A: Only with separate trips -- a trip has one set of dates that every package shares. For staggered departures (Bali August 15-22, Cancun September 5-12) create one trip per departure with Trip Actions → Duplicate Trip; each trip page shows its own dates.

Q: Can I set different prices for each destination? A: Yes. Every package -- and every trip -- has its own price. You can offer an $875 "Bali standard room" package and a $2,450 "Cancun suite" package on the same trip, and deposits and installment plans are set per package too.

Q: Is there a limit on how many destinations I can add? A: There is no hard limit on packages per trip or trips per account. For the best traveler experience keep the package list short (3-5 options) so travelers can compare easily on the trip page.
