Overview
When a trip offers shared rooms, you can book and pay for just your own bed instead of the whole room. You pay your per-person share, and you get a private link to invite friends to fill the other beds — each of them pays for their own spot, on their own schedule. Nobody has to front the cost of the entire room.
Choosing "Just My Bed" at Checkout
When you select a shared room at checkout, you'll see two choices: book the whole room, or book just your bed. Pick "Just my bed" to pay only your share.
For example, an Oceanview Suite that sleeps 4 and costs $2,400 is $600 per bed. Choosing "Just my bed" charges you $600, not $2,400.
Deciding How Many Spots to Pay For
If the room holds more than one guest, you'll see a spot picker titled "How many spots are you paying for?" Your own spot is already included. You only need to pay for more if you're covering someone you're bringing — for example, one partner paying for both beds.
Leave the other spots open and you'll get a share link after checkout to invite friends. The running total shows "Paying for X of Y spots" so you always see your price.
Inviting Friends With Your Share Link
After you check out, your confirmation screen and email show a room code and a private share link. Send the link to anyone you want in your room — by text, email, or messenger. When they open it, they land in the same room and pay for their own bed.
The block also shows your live room status — how many beds are paid and how many are still open — so you know when the room is full.
Joining a Friend's Room
If a friend sent you their share link, just open it. You'll go straight to checkout for their exact room, with a banner confirming "You're joining [their name]'s room." Pay for your own bed and you're set — you don't need to coordinate payment with anyone else.
Important Notes
"Just my bed" is only available when your organizer has enabled per-bed booking for that room; otherwise you'll book the whole room
The price per bed is the total room price divided by how many the room sleeps
Each person in the room has their own payment plan, deposit, and installments
Open beds can only be filled through the share link — they aren't bookable from the public trip page, so send your link to whoever you want in your room
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I pay for only myself in a shared room? A: At checkout, choose "Just my bed" instead of booking the whole room. You'll pay your per-person share — the total room price divided by how many the room sleeps. Leave the other beds open and you'll get a share link to invite friends, who each pay for their own spot.
Q: How does my friend join the same room as me? A: After you book, you get a room code and a private share link on your confirmation screen and in your email. Send the link to your friend. When they open it, they go straight to checkout for your room and pay for their own bed, on their own schedule.
Q: Can I pay for a friend's bed too? A: Yes. In the spot picker at checkout, tap an extra bed to also pay for someone you're bringing — for example, one partner covering both beds in a double. Your total updates to show how many of the room's beds you're paying for.
Q: What if nobody fills the other beds in my room? A: You're only ever charged for the beds you chose to pay for, so open beds cost you nothing. They stay open until someone uses your share link or the trip closes. Re-send your link to whoever you'd like to join you.
