How to Make Payments on Your SquadTrip Account

Whether you're making an additional payment or catching up on a past due balance, learn how payments are applied to your account.

Overview

SquadTrip gives you multiple ways to manage your trip payments. You can pay individual installments early, make extra payments to reduce your balance, retry failed payments, or pay off your entire remaining balance at once with Buy Now, Pay Later (Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay) -- all from your traveler dashboard. Payments can be made with credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, or BNPL options depending on what the organizer has enabled.

Getting to Your Payments

  1. Log in at dashboard.squadtrip.com/login

  2. Click on your trip from the dashboard

  3. Your payment schedule and balance are displayed on the trip details page

Pay a Specific Installment

Each installment row has a "Pay Now" button. Click it to pay that specific installment ahead of schedule, settle an overdue balance, or address a paused payment. Installment payments are made by credit/debit card or Apple Pay.

When you pay an installment:

  • The status updates to "Paid" with the payment date

  • Your total remaining balance decreases

  • A receipt becomes available for download

Make an Extra Payment to Reduce Your Balance

Click "Make New Payment" to pay any additional amount toward your remaining balance. A pop-up appears where you can enter any amount greater than $0 -- there is no minimum. Extra payments are made by credit/debit card or Apple Pay.

When you submit an extra payment:

  • Your total remaining balance decreases

  • Future installment amounts are reduced proportionally

  • The number of installments and due dates stay the same

This is useful for lowering monthly payments or paying off your remaining balance early.

Pay Off Your Balance with Buy Now, Pay Later

If your organizer has enabled Buy Now, Pay Later, you can clear your entire remaining balance in one step using Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay. When this option is available, a "Pay off your balance with Buy Now, Pay Later" banner appears above your payment schedule with a "Pay with BNPL" button.

  1. Log in at dashboard.squadtrip.com/login

  2. Click on your trip from the dashboard

  3. On the "Pay off your balance with Buy Now, Pay Later" banner above your payment schedule, click "Pay with BNPL"

From there:

  1. Choose your provider (Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay)

  2. Review the fee breakdown -- a 4% convenience fee is added to your remaining balance

  3. Enter your billing details if prompted, then continue to the provider to complete the financing

  4. Once approved, your full balance is paid and all remaining scheduled installments are cancelled

Good to know:

  • BNPL here pays your entire remaining balance -- it cannot be used for a single installment or a partial amount. For those, use "Pay Now" or "Make New Payment" with a card.

  • A 4% convenience fee applies to BNPL payoffs.

  • Which providers appear depends on what your organizer enabled and your trip's currency. Affirm is available for USD only; Klarna supports USD, GBP, and EUR; Afterpay supports USD, GBP, AUD, CAD, and NZD.

  • If the provider declines the financing, your installment plan stays active and nothing changes -- you can try another provider or keep paying by card.

Available Payment Methods

Depending on what the organizer has enabled:

Method

Availability

Credit or Debit Card

Always available -- for installments, extra payments, and full payoff

Apple Pay

On supported Apple devices

Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay

Available at checkout (pay in full) and to pay off your entire remaining balance from your dashboard. A 4% fee applies, and they cannot be used for a single installment or partial payment.

Retry a Failed Payment

Failed payments can occur due to expired cards, insufficient funds, or bank declines. When a payment fails, a "Retry Payment" option appears next to that installment.

Click it to either recharge the card on file or update your card details first, then retry. On success, the payment status changes to "Paid."

Unpause a Payment

If a payment has been paused (by the organizer or automatically), it cannot resume on its own. Return to your dashboard and click "Pay Now" on the paused installment to process it manually.

Important Notes

  • You can pay installments early at any time -- there's no penalty for early payment

  • Extra payments via "Make New Payment" reduce your remaining installments but don't change the schedule dates

  • Buy Now, Pay Later pays off your full remaining balance (plus a 4% fee) and cancels future installments -- it is not used for single installments

  • Keep your card information updated to avoid failed auto-charges (see Updating Your Credit Card Info)

  • Payment reminders are sent 5 days before each scheduled installment

Problem

Solution

"Pay Now" button not responding

Refresh the page and try again. Check your internet connection.

Payment failed with no error message

Your card may have been declined by the bank. Try a different card or contact your bank.

Balance doesn't update after payment

Refresh the page. If the balance still shows the old amount, contact [email protected].

Can't find "Make New Payment" button

This option appears when you have a remaining balance. If your trip is fully paid, it won't be shown.

Don't see the "Pay with BNPL" banner

BNPL payoff appears only when your organizer has enabled it, you have a remaining balance, and a provider supports your trip's currency. If you don't see it, pay by card or contact your organizer.

Installment marked as overdue

Click "Pay Now" on the overdue installment to settle it immediately. If your card on file expired, update it first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I pay off my whole balance with Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay? A: Yes -- if your organizer has enabled BNPL and a provider supports your trip's currency, click "Pay with BNPL" on the banner above your payment schedule. It pays your full remaining balance (a 4% convenience fee applies) and cancels your remaining installments once approved.

Q: Can I use BNPL for just one installment or a partial amount? A: No. Buy Now, Pay Later pays off your entire remaining balance at once. For a single installment or a partial amount, use the "Pay Now" or "Make New Payment" buttons with a card or Apple Pay.

Q: Is there a minimum payment amount for the "Make New Payment" option? A: No. You can pay any amount greater than $0. There is no minimum or maximum for extra payments. The amount is applied to your remaining balance immediately.

Q: Will making an extra payment change my installment due dates? A: No. Extra payments reduce the amount of each remaining installment, but the due dates stay the same. If you pay off your entire balance early, all future installments are marked as paid.

Q: What happens if my auto-payment fails and I don't manually retry? A: If auto-retry is enabled by the organizer, SquadTrip automatically retries the payment every 2 days. If retries also fail, the installment is marked as overdue. You can still pay manually using the "Pay Now" button at any time.

Q: Can I pay using a different card than the one I used at checkout? A: Yes. Update your card information from your traveler dashboard before making a payment. The new card will be used for all future payments. See Updating Your Credit Card Info for details.

Q: Where can I find receipts for my payments? A: Receipts are available on your trip details page after each successful payment. Click the download icon next to any paid installment to get a PDF receipt.
